Capsule Geology

In the region of the GC showing, sediments and volcanics of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group are are intruded by diorite and quartz diorite of the Upper Triassic Stikine Plutonic Suite.

Copper mineralization is reported to occur in the country rock on the east side of Gracey Creek about 780 metres upstream from its confluence with the South Unuk River (Property File - Newmont Map). No geological description is available for this occurrence. Soil sampling was done in the GC area in 1991 over the Fis 2 claim. Gold values were elevated.

Work History

In the 1960s Newmont Exploratin conducted a regional exploration program. The resulting geology map eventually ended up in the Property File of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

In 1989, Fest Resources collected 126 stream sediment samples and 12 rock samples for analysis on there Fis 1-5, Jade 2 & 3 and Jumbo 2. In, 1990 a airborne reconnaissance magnetic and VLF-EM survey was conducted on behalf of Fest Resources over the claim area. In 1991 a brief follow-up program of rock geochemical sampling and prospecting was carried out by Fest Resources. A total of 78 rock, 19 silt and 30 soil samples were collected for geochemical analysis.

In the late 2000s, the area was held by Max Resources who flew an airborne geophysical survey over parts of the area (Assessment Report 30289). No ground work in the Jade 2 (McQuillan) (104B 012) - Gracey Creek area was reported by Max Resources. Refer to Max (104B 013) for details of the activity of Max Resources at the time.

In 2006 and 2007, Hathor Exploration Ltd. completed a 7228.7 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Sun and Gracey claims of the Iskut project. In 2008, Max Minerals Ltd. examined the property.
